INTERVIEWS AND VIDEOS

The World Ocean Council and Centro Tecnológico Naval organised the GREEN MARINE MED Final Summits, held on 2–3 July 2025 in Barcelona. The final event of the GREEN MARINE MED  project brought together innovators, policymakers, and maritime leaders from across the Mediterranean to advance the green transition in maritime transport.

Over two inspiring days, the Innovation Summit and the Finance Summit showcased cutting-edge ideas, collaborations, and investment pathways driving decarbonisation, digitalisation, and sustainability in the maritime sector.

The interviews you can see below highlight the mission of the Centre of Excellence on Mediterranean Green Shipping, created through the GREEN MARINE MED  project. This Centre of Excellence was created as the global maritime industry faces a crucial shift toward greener operations. With the purpose of connecting innovation, policy, business action and regional collaboration — linking North and South Mediterranean stakeholders while creating co-benefits and shared capacity for a Sustainable and Regenerative Blue Economy.

STAKEHOLDER MAPPING

Mediterranean Countries & Companies

The interactive GREEN MARINE MED Stakeholder Map below presents the Key Green Shipping Stakeholders per Mediterranean Country, as one of the project deliverables. It provides an interactive overview of organisations and initiatives across the Mediterranean region’s Green Shipping full value chain — from ports, shipowners, and technology developers to research centres, financiers, and NGOs. Users can explore and filter stakeholders by Organisation/Entity Type (e.g. Port Authority, Private Company, Research Institution, NGO, Finance/Investment, etc.) and by Sector/Interest (e.g. Energy & Renewables, Marine Conservation, Shipbuilding & Repair, Policy & Advocacy, Circular Economy, Tourism & Cruise, and more). This tool highlights who is leading innovation, collaboration, and transition efforts toward sustainable maritime transport in the Mediterranean. If you wish to be included in the map, please contact info@worldoceancouncil.org.

PARTNERS

GREEN MARINE MED, led by Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar (CTN) and the World Ocean Council Europe (WOC), comprises 18 partners from seven countries, both in Europe (Spain, France, Italy, and The Netherlands) and Southern Mediterranean countries (Türkiye, Morocco and Israel). The consortium includes various Green Shipping actors: clusters and maritime technology centers, accelerators, educational partners, and direct links with ports.

We’re also collaborating with marine engineering companies, coastline development companies, business unions, event organizers, and a research group focused on transport innovation.

ADVISORY BOARD

The Advisory Board (AB) of the GREEN MARINE MED project PLAYED a crucial role in guiding the project’s direction and ensuring its success. Comprising esteemed experts and thought leaders, the AB BROUGHT together diverse perspectives to shape the project’s trajectory. The AB WAS a diverse and inclusive body, truly representing the various stakeholders of the maritime transport sector. Our AB members WERE carefully selected from various countries, ensuring a broad range of experiences and perspectives. This INCLUDED countries from the European Union (including those not directly involved in the consortium) as well as Southern Mediterranean countries. This wide geographic representation ENABLED the AB to understand and address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by different regions. The AB’s primary role WAS to provide strategic guidance, ensuring the project ALIGNED with its objectives, and to offer expert advice. Additionally, it PLAYED a key role in networking and stakeholder engagement, fostering relationships with key players in the maritime transport sector. The AB of the GREEN MARINE MED project WAS envisioned as a diverse, inclusive, and representative body that GUIDED the project toward achieving its ultimate goal: reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime transport sector.
