ABOUT
Ponant Explorations Group, in collaboration with the World Ocean Council (WOC), invites the global scientific community to take part in a pioneering initiative—conducting research aboard select vessels of the Ponant fleet.
Building on the success of the Ponant Science Programme launched in 2021 aboard Le Commandant Charcot, this expanded opportunity opens up access to new itineraries and ecosystems across the globe. From the polar regions and remote islands to tropical archipelagos and biodiverse coastlines, scientists now have the chance to carry out fieldwork in some of the planet’s most extraordinary marine and terrestrial environments.
Through this initiative, up to two scientific berths per cruise will be made available free of charge to selected researchers. While these vessels are not equipped with traditional laboratory spaces, they offer unique access to remote regions, frequent coastal stops, and a dynamic setting for environmental, ecological, and socio-cultural research.
Proposals from a wide range of disciplines—including marine, terrestrial, and social sciences—are welcome. Applications will be assessed for their scientific merit, logistical feasibility, and relevance to ocean policy and sustainable development.
This is more than just ship time—it’s a platform for cross-sector collaboration, long-term monitoring, and impactful outreach. Join us in bridging science and exploration to advance ocean knowledge and stewardship.
